However, more than a qualification in the NEET-UG exam is required to gain admission to MBBS. You have to participate in the NEET UG counselling, too! But, which one?

For an MBBS admission to a deemed college, you must participate in the All-India NEET UG counselling. This is conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee of India (MCCI). First, let’s have an overview of it.

  2. Registration fees.
  3. Security fees, if applicable.
  4. Seat Matrix.
  5. Choice-Filling.
  6. Choice-Locking.
  7. Processing of Seat Allotment and Result.
  8. Uploading of Documents on the MCC portal.
  9. Reporting and Documents Verification.

Online Registration

The first step to your admission process is online registration on the NEET UG counselling portal of MCC. Once the dates are announced, online registration is usually scheduled for 5-6 days.

To create your profile, You must start with your NEET UG roll number, DOB, registered email, and phone number. This information will be authenticated online, after which you have to complete the application form.

You have to re-login and fill in your name, parent information, address, qualification details, category/caste, choice of course, etc. Once this information is complete, carefully recheck all the details before you submit the form.

Registration fees and Security fees

Your application form is only complete after you pay the registration fees. This fee is applicable and equal for anyone who wants to participate in MCC’s deemed university counselling.

The total payable fee for MBBS in deemed universities is Rs. 2,05,000/- which includes both the registration fees (Rs. 5000/-) and security deposit (Rs.2,00,000/-). The registration fee is non-refundable, and the security fee is refundable after the allotment.

Once your payment is complete, your status and transaction details of the same will be reflected. A tip here is, to click a picture of the transaction details and save it for future use, if required!

Seat Matrix

The seat vacancy matrix for deemed universities is released online on the same website. You can check the total number of seats available across various colleges before going for the option-entry round.

Choice-filling

The choice-filling round is available only for students who have paid the security fees.

This round continues for 3-4 days and is mandatory if you intend to conquer your MBBS seat. Names of MBBS colleges will be available along with the fee structure.

During this round, you can enter your preferred deemed medical colleges one by one.

The good part is, there is no limitation to the choice you want to make!

Choice-locking

The choice-locking is an optional step just after or along with the choice-filling round. This round usually lasts for 24 hours only.

You can lock your entered choices by yourself, or they will be locked automatically.

What’s important here is that you must be very sure about the options you have entered. Once locked, it cannot be edited.

Processing of Seat Allotment and Result

The MCC will process the allotment for seats, and within 3-4 days, you can expect your results.

The MCC will release the list of provisionally allotted medical students. You have to look for your rank in it!

The allotment letter will also arrive online, once you view your result, you must download it. Save it properly, as this will be required in the next step.

Uploading of Documents on the MCC portal

Now, if you are happy and ready to accept the allotment you received, you can upload the documents required online on the MCC portal.

These same documents are verified during your reporting procedure, so you can refer to the next section to learn about them. Please note that you should only proceed if you plan to confirm your admission!

Reporting and Document Verification

Finally, the last step in your MBBS admission procedure is the reporting and document verification round. As I mentioned earlier, the allotment you have received is only provisional; hence, this step is carried out to confirm the admission.

Interested and allotted candidates have to physically report to the allotted institute with all the mandatory documents. This is compulsory and must be done within the specific dates announced by the MCC.
