Sri Kalabyraveshwara Swamy Ayurvedic Medical College and Research Centre Bangalore was established in 1996-1997 to fulfill the growing need for Ayurveda education and bring back this ancient healing system. The college is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Karnataka and recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi, as well as the Governments of Karnataka and Department of Ayush.

SKAMCH & RC educates about 100 undergraduate students in each batch, offering excellent learning facilities to help them become skilled Ayurveda Doctors. Post-graduate studies started in 2010-2011. In this phase, SKAMCH & RC offers advanced education in 5 specialized branches of Ayurveda like Panchakarma, Kayachikitsa, Prasuti Tantra Evam Stri Roga, Shalya Tantra, and Shalakya Tantra, each batch containing 6 students. Additionally, Ph.D. programs commenced in 2018 for the specialties of Kayachikitsa and Panchakarma.

To be eligible for admission, students must have cleared the 12th Std/two-year PUC examination, or an equivalent examination. This should include English as a language and Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects, with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate. However, for SC/ST students, the minimum marks requirement for admission to the first BAMS Course is relaxed by 10% marks.

Foreign students can seek admission to the Ayurveda course if their country’s basic qualification is recognized by the University or they provide an equivalent certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. An eligibility certificate should be obtained from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, with a specific mention of the subject ‘English’ in the marks sheet.
