The course is structured into two parts: a main course of 4 years and 6 months, followed by a clinical course/internship of 1 year. The main course comprises four phases, with the first three, each lasting one year of internship extending to 1 year and 6 months.

The aim of the BAMS course is to produce graduates with profound knowledge in Ayurveda, blending traditional wisdom with scientific understanding. The curriculum emphasizes practical training, shaping students into competent academicians, research fellows, physicians, and surgeons. Admission requirements include a minimum of 50% marks in PCB in the qualifying examination for general category candidates, with relaxation for SC, ST, and OBC categories. Additionally, candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year, and there is no upper age limit.

To be eligible for admission, candidates need to achieve the minimum percentile in the National Eligibility Entrance Test for UG-BAMS. The required percentile is 50% for general category, 40% for SC, ST, and OBC candidates, and 45% for candidates with benchmark disabilities.
